GC1603P Polyrange
range high precision analytical balance with internal calibration,
RS-232 interface and the new innovative triangular weighing pan
shape. New design, developed for professional use in a wide
range of analytical and precision weighing applications laboratories.
Equipped with the very latest in weighing technology, The Monolithic
Weigh Cell - characterized by fast response times, excellent repeatability
and exceptional mechanical ruggedness.
The
Sartorius GC1603P features a fine range 0-800ct x 0.001ct and
a high range 800-1600ct x 0.01ct for weighing precious gem stones.
The GC1603P offers 16 weighing function so it's perfect for measuring
in grams with the specs [0-160g x 0.2mg / 160-320g x 2mg] to meet
just about any weighing application
Engineered in Germany, assembled in Arvada, Colorado and
backed by a 3 year manufacturer warranty by Sartorius North
America located in Edgewood, New York.

Sartorius is a German
company and maker of some of the world's finest balances since 1871

Only Sartorius shatters the limits when "the
Guinness Book of World Records" listed the Sartorius Model 4108 as the most accurate
balance in the world. Sartorius has been proving their trustworthiness

The GC1603P is the ultimate analytical balances for the lapidary marketplace.
The GC1603P has very similar features to the Sartorius
CP124S and CP224S Analytical Balance, but sold for hundreds less.
Basically, the gem market place is extremely price sensitive market
sector verses the laboratory marketplace so Sartorius developed the
GC1603P with a special price to meet the pricing requirements for
the jewelry marketplace. Whether you're weighing diamonds or chemical
compounds the GC1603P weighs from 0 to 800 carats (0-160 grams) weighing
capacity in the fine range in increments in 0.001 carats (0.2mg) intervals.
Once the weighing capacity exceeds the fine range the GC1603P internal
software drops the readability by a factor of 10 providing 800 to
1600 carats (160 - 320 grams) weighing capacity in increments in 0.01
carats (2mg) intervals.
One feature that we really like is low profile design of the GC1603P
resulting in less bench space compared to the Sartorius
CP Analytical Balances. The height from pan to top of glass
door is only 6.37 inch high with the GC1603P verses for example
the Sartorius CP124 is 9.13 inch in height from the pan to top
of glass. We see a lot of images in trade magazines showing
analytical balances with tall weigh chambers having a large glass
flask or beaker, but these photos are not really practical since the
weight of the beaker/flask would typically exceed the weighing capacity
of the balance especially if the beaker/flask is even half way filled
with liquid.
At no time can the total mass on the platform exceed the weighing
capacity of the balance, no matter what balance you purchase.
Therefore, if you had a glass beaker weighing 70 grams and you place
it on the weighing pan, pressed the tare button, the GC1603P would
then display 0.0000g. You would now have 110 grams weighing
capacity left in the fine range (160 - 70 = 110g.) The
point we are trying to stress is having a tall draft shield "typically
does not offer you any benefits".
In the real world most people are using polystyrene
weigh boats and beakers that weigh much less than glass, thus
allowing you to weigh your solutions and compounds which is really
the objective of using the balance.
The GC1603P produces steady readings using the high stability mode
and the unique Sartorius weighing system even if the environmental
conditions are not ideal for precision weighing. The "monolithic"
weigh cell technology has been expanded to the GC1603P. The
monolithic block is made from one piece of a special metal that is
robotically etched, resulting in a more rugged design with high-level
weighing results and less sensitivity to temperature fluctuations.
With this patented system, Sartorius sets the technological standards
for the new millennium.
The Monolithic Weigh Cell offers unbeatable advantages for daily use
like Incredibly fast response time and Unfailing reliability
and near-zero susceptibility to interference. The reasons
for these considerable advantages are two fold: the number of individual
parts has been reduced by more than 70% and the mechanical construction
has been designed to last for years of trouble-free operations. |

You can attach a sample using a suspension wire, for example.
Common applications for weighing below the balance includes
density determination. Sartorius recommends to complete
the balance with the density kit YDK01
and modify the balance with a higher weighing chamber for more
