You can also download both Domestic and International Postage Rate Charts by visiting http://www.usps.com/tools/calculatepostage/domesticpostageratetables.htm.  Whenever the rate increases again you can easily acquire the new rates right online or by visiting any US Post office.  This is a much more economical solution versus purchasing a scale that calculates the postage since these scales always need new rate chips every time the postal rates go up.  The new rate chips cost many times over $50.40!  That's $50.40 whenever the postal rates go up and then the hassle of finding where to buy the chip, ordering the correct chip for your particular scale and installing the chip without bending or breaking one of the legs to the IC.

One issue to consider with the CS2000 if you're weighing large 8 ½" x 11" envelopes or parcel is the CS2000's small platform (Oval in shape having a length of 5.75" and a width of 5.25" ) and the positioning of the display.  In many situations the platform is too small and if you attempt to place a 8 ½" x 11" envelope on the platform it would cover the display.  For these weighing applications we recommend the Tanita KD200-210 over the CS2000 since the Tanita KD200-210 offers a large 7" x 7" stainless steel platform, the LCD is located away from the platform and the display is positioned at an angle.  The CS2000 is backed with a full 1 year manufacturer's limited warranty.

The Ohaus CS2000 is battery powered and comes equipped with three AA size alkaline batteries so you're ready to get to work the second you open the box.  The Auto-Shut-Off feature extends battery life by automatically turning off after approximately five minutes if no active weighing is occurring.  Additional features include:

• Power Up Test : When the scale is turned on, all display segments will appear for approximately 3 seconds before resetting to zero.
• Stable Reading Indication : On the display, theindicator will appear in the lower left corner of the display when a stable reading has been reached.
• Simple two button keypad :
  1. On/Off/Zero : Pressing this key turns on the scale.  This same key operates the zero feature when the scale is on.  Press and hold this key for three seconds to turn the scale off.
  2. Cal/Unit : Press this key briefly to change the weighing unit from grams to ounces or vise versa.  Press and hold this key to begin the calibration procedure.
• Easily Calibration Steps (requires optional $40.40 1000 gram test mass).
  1. Allow the scale to warm up and stabilize for two minutes before commencing the calibration procedure
  2. Press and hold the "Cal/Unit" key until the calibration weight (1000 g) flashes on the display
  3. With 1000 flashing, press the "On/off/Zero" key, and the display will read "CAL 0."  After pausing for at least two seconds, place the 1000 gram gently on the center of the weighing platform.
  4. The display will momentarily show "CAL F" and then return to the active weighing mode.  Calibration is complete when the display correctly shows the calibration weight, and the display has stabilized
  5. Remove the calibration weight and turn the scale off.  Now turn on the calibrated scale.
